2025 AGM

The 2025 AGM was held on June 3rd, and celebrated another successful year for the Hall.

Four new trustees joined the team - Charlotte Spedding, Harriett McHugh, Jayne Billington and Paul Farrow.

The Hall has been awarded Hallmark 1, a quality standard scheme for the management of community buildings/village halls that has been in operation in Northumberland since 2008. Trustees are now working towards Hallmark 2.

The Trustees took the decision to apply for Solar panels through CAN (Community Action Northumberland). This will allow the building to become more sustainable going forward.

The hall has been really busy over the year with a variety of events ranging from the annual Alnmouth Art Festival, Easter and Christmas Fairs, Yoga, Tai Chi, Barn Dances, Bridge group, Brushstrokes, concerts,  Burns night, Weddings, birthday parties, Bingo, Jewellery appraisals, coffee mornings, Wine and cheese events and even a Silent Disco to name but a few.

The amazing Produce Stall, organised by the Events team,  which runs through July and August was another successful event, raising much needed funds.

Footfall at the hall for the year was well over 5,000 (April to March).

Solar panels for the Hall

The Trustees are working on a project to save money and provide sustainable energy to the Hall.

Northumberland Community Energy Ltd (NCEL) has the  funding for a planning application to put solar panels on the Hall roof. NCEL is putting together the application and, if we get a favourable response, it will install solar panels and a set of storage batteries.

Under this arrangement the Hall will lease the roof to NCEL and pay 0.15p/KW for a 20-year fixed term. This should cover up to 80% of the Hall's annual usage.

Overall this should be a great arrangement. At no cost to the Hall we will purchase electricity at a much reduced rate fixed for 20 years, taking out the current uncertainty of variable energy costs.
